A Little Butterfly Named Hind Rajab

This is from a limited edition of prints (50 per painting) from JB Vallely's 2026 From Wounded Knee to Gaza series. Each print is on high-quality art paper and is signed, captioned and numbered by the artist. On 29 January 2024 Israeli forces fired on a car fleeing Gaza City, containing five-year-old Hind Rajab, her uncle, aunt and four cousins. Hind was injured and all her relatives killed as the shooting continued. For three hours, Hind spoke on the phone to dispatchers of the Palestine Red Crescent Society, pleading for someone to rescue her. The Israelis refused to permit a nearby ambulance to come to the scene. The dispatchers kept talking with Hind, asking her about her school. She said the class she was in was called 'the Butterfly class'. After Hind died, the Israelis gave permission for the Red Crescent ambulance to approach; they then murdered the two paramedics, Yousef Zeino and Ahmed al Madhoun.
